Dubai Ladies REVIEWS – Salé Sucré Patisserie – Desserts At Their Best

I’ve never been much of a dessert person but over the last few years I have developed a craving for the sweeter things in life, joining a majority of women who long for cupcakes, yearn for macaroons and desire the odd scoop of ice cream.

I do try however to keep my sweet tooth intake to a minimum saving my fattening sugar in take for only the best quality yummiest delicacies.

For the last couple of months I have been seeing a sudden influx of tweets from a new mall called Bay Avenue, most tweets have been for the highly popular Egyptian patisserie chain Salé Sucré which translates to Salty Sweets. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to their grand opening, however it was my birthday shortly afterwards so I decided to opt for a grown up birthday cake this year and try out Salé Sucré.

The store it’s self is wonderful, a great array of beautifully displayed Kunafa’s, individual cakes, customised event cakes and wonderful large french “cakes” (calling them cakes implies they are simply cakes when in truth they are anything but!)

The staff where some of the most helpful i’ve found in dubai, well informed and attentive without being over bearing which quite often happens when you are alone in a store in Dubai. I will admit it was an overwhelming decision to decide what to order, however this was the only bad thing about Salé Sucré if you can call it bad!

I decided to go for the Chocolate Feuilltine (Google describes Feuilltine as: brittle crispy flakes with caramelised, praline flavours. Feuilletine flakes are used in professional pâtisserie for their delicious sweet flavour and light, crispy texture. Mix the feuilletine flakes into ganache and mousses, or use in layered cakes.)

The Chocolate Feuilltine itself was like nothing I had ever tasted, it was light yet heavy not overbearingly sweet yet very sweet, chocolatey without it being overbearing overall it was a delight. If you can imagine a chocolate cake base topped with moorish chocolate mouse with the best double chocolate praline cookie you can ever imagine broken up as a surprise in the centre, and then finished off with a chocolate glaze on top, this would be the best way to describe it. My husband is a humungous fan of chocolate and I am more of a cheesecake or red velvet girl, and when I do opt for Chocolate I tend to like the juxtaposition of coupling it with berries and other fruits, yet despite the fact it’s pure chocolate this made both of us very happy.

Salé Sucré was a delight and I can envision myself only ordering from here for all my special occasions, it was also nice to see the new Bay Avenue which has a great location (the exit before Dubai Mall headed towards Sharjah) but is not so busy you want to avoid it (me with Dubai Mall!) there is not a great deal there but just to visit Salé Sucré alone it is worth it. The only thing I would love to see there is perhaps a couple of tables to sit and enjoy a coffee with one of their lovely looking individual deserts or great tasting macaroons.
